Face to Face

Updated: Jan 31, 2021

Who among us has met Jesus face to face? Peter, Paul & the 2 on the road to Emmaus to name a few. Each of these people have a profound story of when they met Jesus face to face. As I am reflecting on each of these encounters they reveal deep similarities and vast differences. Each of them, this was their time. This moment was meant for them. The eyes of Jesus were firmly placed on them and His words were sound waves of truth crashing upon the shores of their ears. Bringing truth and revelation to the fertile soil of their souls.

What would a face to face encounter look like today? I would imagine that it would look like something that could be easily missed. Like a stranger on the street giving a $1 to someone in need, or feeding someone who is hungry or even visiting someone in prison, Matt 25:35-40. It doesn't have to a profound encounter that Theologically provides insight into the 'why' this has happened, although it could be. More times then not it looks like doing unto the least of these is like doing this for Jesus, Matthew 25:40. It could be in the form of Peter preaching on the day of Pentecost and 3000 people encountering the truth of Jesus and were forever changed and not mention inspiration for countless others throughout history. We never know when that one encounter comes that causes us to truly see.

I keep asking myself a few questions.

1.) Am I being someone's encounter with Jesus?

2.) How can I be someone's encounter with Jesus?

Keep this thought in our minds and live it out everyday, be someone's encounter with Jesus!
